Oakwood Farms is a private breeding facility. Oakwood has two broodmares, one which foaled this spring, Yuma is our latest addition to Oakwood, born May 15, 2009. Our
favorite horse's name is Theo Bella, meaning beautiful gift from God in
Italian. She was born at Oakwood on June,15 2004, and is now the proud mother of Yuma! We hope to have new foals at Oakwood every spring! We have available studs, and many studs around the area with an affordable stud fee. We also have been approved to have frozen sperm shipped on site! We have two large foaling stalls, though many mares foal in pasture with the guidance of our vet, Dr. Rachel A. Kane. Oakwood's Barn Manager, Meredith Halas was the assistant manager of University of Carbondale's Horse Center and was responsible for the broodmares, weanlings, young stock and stallions. She was also responsible for breeding the university broodmares via live cover as well as artificial insemination, and has delivered well over twelve foals.
